Which is the most Luminous Star in the night sky?
Many people believe The Pole Star is the brightest, most luminous star in our night sky, however it is not. There is another, much brighter star.
Brightness is measured in lumens (or a lumen) which is a means of comparing the brightness of a light source. Essentially, it’s a measure of how much actual light comes out of a light source.
So which is, the most luminous star in our skies? Is it a super massive star, a supernova, is it one of our closest stars, is it a pulsar, a neutron star, or something else entirely?
